"Having suffered a stroke which affected the mobility of my right leg and arm it was important to find the best exercise and physio provider to continue my rehabilitation. Community Wellness Services (CWS) with David Birds and the team were exactly what I needed. They provide me with regular exercise classes to maintain my cardio fitness and mobility exercise with excellent trainers in a modern well equipped gym on Ecclesall Road.
I have also had one to one specific sessions with David which helped me concentrate on improving the mobility of my leg. This combined with regular sports massage from a qualified sports masseur at CWS has definitely contributed to my ongoing rehabilitation."

Sports and Remedial Massages in Sheffield
Our massage services aren’t just for athletes, they’re ideal for individuals seeking relief from musculoskeletal issues caused by posture, lifestyle, or mobility challenges. Our therapists address common concerns like postural imbalances, loss of flexibility, or work-related strains, with the goal of reducing pain and improving mobility while enhancing overall wellbeing.
Most ‘musculoskeletal’ issues arise because of one of the following:
- Postural compensations
- An imbalance in body mechanics
- Stressful or challenging lifestyle and work patterns
- Loss of strength and flexibility
Each of these factors alone may have a major impact on your soft tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and fascia), but they may also affect the way your body functions when you move. It is not uncommon for an injury to arise because of one of the issues above.
Through the specialist service that we provide at our wellness hub on Ecclesall Road, we are able to provide a bespoke health plan for you, ensuring that your rehabilitation and recovery is centred around your health condition.
Following a health check with us, we will support individuals moving forward with their plans. This could include referring them to our personal training sessions, booking them in for one-to-one rehabilitation appointments, or ensuring they attend our bespoke fitness classes.
Whether you’re managing long-term back pain, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to improve your quality of life, our services are designed to support Sheffield’s communities with expert care and personalised attention.
